About the Founder – Writer/Producer/Director Laura Cross
Laura Cross is the professional name of Laura Holycross. She is a producer, writer, director, published author, and founder of Rebel Seed Entertainment, LLC.
Laura spent 12 years in finance, including the accounting departments of production companies Harmony Holdings (commercials & music videos) and Grindstone Entertainment (film & music), and as the Controller in the Los Angeles office of Gores Technology Group, a global private equity firm.
After a second career in special event sales and as a professional ghostwriter and consultant of narrative nonfiction and how-to books, she launched Rebel Seed Films to develop projects inspired by true events for film and television, and Rebel Seed Publishing to publish books inspired by true stories that have film and television adaptation potential, and how-to books on the subjects of writing, business, and filmmaking.
Laura earned a certificate in Feature Film Writing from the University of California, Los Angeles, Extension (UCLA-E), completed UCLA-E’s respected Independent Film Producer Program, and recently wrote and produced the short action/war drama “Devil Dogs”, which premiered at the 2017 GI Film Festival in Washington D.C.
Laura was the host of the popular Film Insights podcast, where she talked with producers, writers, and directors about their experiences and projects, and interviewed industry insiders about their expertise and the business of filmmaking.
Her company sponsors several script and film competitions and showcases, and she was selected as a judge for the 2016 UCLA Screenwriter’s Showcase.
Born and raised in Detroit, Laura is a longtime resident of Los Angeles, and holds dual American and Australian citizenship.
